Below are a few case studies.

Refrigerated Sandwich delivery
Replace a refrigerated van with a bike and trailer.
The grey box on the trailer is a refrigerated sandwich container on its own castor wheels. This trailer carries this box on runners, piggyback. When the rider reaches their destination the rider can wheel the refrigerated sandwich box off the trailer and around the office where its delivering sandwiches to.
Y-Frames fitted with insulated boxes are a more modest option.

A bike to carry bikes
How could bikes be carried by a cyclist?
This trailer is a Y-Large fitted with a bicycle roof rack, a longer handle, and an underslung box. This particular bike is one of Take a break's. Take a break run guided cycle tours in Zurich, but this style of modification is used for mobile cycle repair services, and by cycle proficiency instructors. It's possible to carry up to about three adult bikes on a Y-Large, and up to about six bikes on a custom trailer.

Kayak Trailer
17ft long kayak, no problem.
In this case we build an extra long handle onto a Y-Large. The kayak was strapped on top of the trailer with a foam pad underneath. Mind you a 17ft makes a very long trailer ;)

Walking around the world
Karl Leathley will be spending the next seven years with this Y-Frame for company, as he walks around the world. We fitted this Y-Large with drum brakes, and a special walking harness.

This trailer has a 300 Litre aluminium box, that is waterproof and lockable. About half of the luggage capacity will be taken up with Karl's clothes and equipment, the other half will be devoted to water storage.

Karl started walking from John O' Groats in January, and took about 7 weeks to reach Lands End. This was a short trial run to test all the equipment he had, he will begin his world walk in September.

Royal Mail bicycle trailer
These trailers are in service with the Royal Mail. They are special adaptations of the Y-Small bicycle trailer. Its lockable, waterproof and can be walked as a suitcase like our City bicycle trailer. This allows the mailman to carry bulkier parcels, and means they need to refill their bike less often.
