10. Lollypop Hitch

pic_projects_big_7

Simple and strong. The Lollypop hitch (with the red elastomer) for Carry Freedom trailers ensures a proper connection. In addition it enables you to connect the trailer fast and securely. Delivery includes one hitch bracket.

Works for Carry Freedom Y-Frame and City Trailer – also compatible with older versions. The Lollypop towing bracket need 4mm of space on the rear axle of the bicycle.

When using with other trailers then Carry Freedom:
The trailers towing arm tube needs a 19mm internal diameter.

Hello. The standard L hitch sticks out a bit on the folded Brompton, so I wondered if something similar to the Brompton variant of this could be used:

I suspect it might be possible to to just remove the ball (metal cluedo piece? :) ) and replace it with the post for the Carry Freedom lollipop…..

      Hi AB,
this is a Radical hitch. while being similar i don’t think it will work, but i can’t be sure. You can get the old style Carry Freedom hitch in our webshop, which uses less space. Hope this helps

      Hi Christopher,
it depends where you are. In mainland Europe we can take care of you at carryfreedom.com. If you are in England you could try Rob at Really Useful Bikes – Tel: 07801 150727 – Anywhere else in the world let me know. I’ll do my best.

    Oh :) .
OK, Thanks, thats why one of my L brackets looks more like steel than the other :) .

I wonder if you could thin the flat bit under the axle nut then thicken it up to 4mm it before it reaches the bend .

    Hello.

Had you thought of offering a (thinner) stainless steel L bracket as an option for those who have less axle thread showing? I presume it could be half as thick as the 4mm aluminium alloy bracket?

Actually AB, the bracket is not aluminium – it’s stainless steel. Aluminium cannot be bent like that and retain it’s strength. Maybe the 4mm is overkill, but i fear 2mm would be dangerous. we passed a very tough german test with this set up, so we know that our users are as safe as we can possibly make them. Hope this helps. Hi, I have an old Y trailer. I have the bracket on the rear axle but the next join has come apart, the bolt snapped and the pin vanished. Will the lolipop hitch work?

      Hi Tilley,
yes, the lollypop is retro-compatible for all Carry Freedom trailers. Just passed the En-DIN-Test as well.
Get it at your dealer on online in our store.
      Thanks

My Haibike Xduro SL electric mountain bike’s rear wheel spindle is not long enough or suitable to fit a lollypop towing hitch to. Can you supply another bracket to fit to trailing arm or perhaps to seat post with high type drawbar. Hoping to hear a solution. Thanks very much.

      Hi Bill,
Thanks for your comment. Not an easy fix problem. How much thread do you have? The new LEAF trailer will have the seat post solution. But it won’t work on a Y. One solution could be the Weber Hitch, they have a hitch that fits to the frame instead of the hub and we have a weber adapter arm. You can send me some infos and maybe a photo of the hub and we will check what we can do. Hope this helps.
